NMA Peaks And Permit Fee

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) issues climbing permits for designated trekking peaks across Nepal. These peaks offer an excellent introduction to Himalayan mountaineering and are suitable for climbers seeking adventure beyond traditional trekking routes. Permit fees vary by peak and season, and all permits must be obtained through a registered Nepalese trekking or expedition agency. Below is the current permit fee schedule for NMA-designated trekking peaks.

Additional Requirements

  • Permit fees are charged per climber and are non-refundable once issued.
  • Climbing permits must be obtained through a registered Nepalese trekking or expedition agency.
  • A valid passport with at least six months' validity is required.
  • All climbers must obtain a valid NMA peak climbing permit before attempting the climb.
  • A licensed climbing guide is required in accordance with current Government of Nepal regulations.
  • Comprehensive high-altitude travel insurance covering emergency medical treatment, helicopter evacuation, and rescue is strongly recommended.
  • Depending on the destination, additional permits such as the National Park Permit, Conservation Area Permit (ACAP/MCAP), Restricted Area Permit, and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit may also be required.
  • Climbers must follow all environmental protection, waste management, and Leave No Trace principles during the expedition.
  • Permit fees are subject to change by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Government of Nepal without prior notice.
  • Permits are valid only for the approved peak, climbing route, expedition members, and expedition period specified in the permit.
  • Climbers are responsible for complying with all Government of Nepal mountaineering rules and regulations throughout the expedition.
  • Expedition organizers and climbers should carry all original permits and identification documents during the climb.
