HIMLUNG EXPEDITION

Himlung Himal is one of Nepal’s most beautiful and accessible 7,000-meter expedition peaks, located in the remote Nar–Phu Valley of the Annapurna region. This stunning mountain offers a perfect introduction to high-altitude mountaineering with non-technical but physically demanding alpine climbing.

Surrounded by impressive peaks such as Nemjung and Himjung, and distant views of Manaslu and Annapurna ranges, Himlung provides breathtaking Himalayan scenery from base camp to summit.

Expedition Overview

The journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu to the Annapurna region, followed by a trek into the isolated Nar–Phu Valley—one of Nepal’s most culturally preserved and least visited regions. The route passes traditional Tibetan-influenced villages, ancient monasteries, mani walls, and high alpine landscapes.

2. Camp I: ~5,450m
3. Camp II: ~6,000m
4. Camp III: ~6,350m
5. Summit: 7,126m

The ascent follows a standard northwest ridge route with snow and ice terrain, supported by fixed ropes in exposed sections. While technically moderate, the climb requires strong endurance due to altitude and long expedition days.

History & Significance

Himlung Himal was first opened for climbing in 1992, with a successful ascent by a Japanese team in the same year. Since then, it has become a popular training peak for 8,000-meter expeditions due to its stable conditions and predictable route.
