Chulu Far East Peak is a beautiful trekking peak in the Annapurna region of Nepal, known for its striking mountain scenery and relatively accessible climbing route. The peak lies in the northern part of the Marsyangdi Valley along the famous Annapurna Circuit trail, offering one of the best panoramic Himalayan experiences without the need for domestic flights.
Often described as a “tiger-striped” mountain due to its uniquely colored rock formations, Chulu Far East provides an impressive visual contrast against the surrounding snow-covered peaks. The route combines cultural trekking through traditional villages with a gradual ascent into high alpine terrain, making it both scenic and rewarding.
From the summit of Chulu Far East Peak (6,059m), climbers are rewarded with breathtaking views of some of the highest mountains in the world, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu. This panoramic viewpoint is one of the key highlights of the climb and makes it one of the most attractive trekking peaks in Nepal.
The Chulu peaks group consists of four main summits: Chulu West (6,419m), Chulu East (6,584m), Chulu Central (6,250m), and Chulu Far East (6,059m). Among them, Chulu Far East is considered the easiest and most suitable for beginners with good fitness and basic mountaineering preparation.
The standard climbing route follows the northeast ridge from a high camp located around 5,300 meters. Most expeditions complete the summit push in a single long day from high camp, depending on weather and conditions. The climb involves snow slopes and glacier travel but does not require advanced technical mountaineering skills.
The journey typically begins with a drive from Kathmandu into the Marsyangdi Valley, following the Annapurna Circuit route through picturesque villages such as Pisang and Ngawal. Trekkers gradually acclimatize as they move deeper into the region, leaving the main trail to enter quieter valleys and high alpine landscapes.
The base camp for Chulu Far East is shared with other peaks in the group and is located above Ngawal. The region offers excellent acclimatization opportunities and cultural immersion, with strong Tibetan-influenced traditions, monasteries, and mountain lifestyle experiences.
Chulu Far East Peak is an ideal climbing destination for trekkers seeking their first Himalayan summit experience. It combines adventure, cultural exploration, and stunning Himalayan panoramas, making it one of the most rewarding trekking peaks in the Annapurna region.
