October 28, 2015 - Trek to Leder

After a 7:00 AM tea wakeup call and breakfast in a warming dining room, it was an 8:00 AM departure from Manang as the town was getting to a day's work.  We saw lots of children heading to school, one seemingly 5 year old carrying a younger sibling on her back, so cute.  More cloud in the sky today but still had a warm sun on our backs until noon, but we all had an extra layer on than in the past, putting on more as the wind and cloud picked up toward noon.  The scenery changed to open slopes with lot of fall colours as we ascended above the tree line, but at 4000m we did see one lone clump of birch trees sans leaves.  We were happy to leave the motorcycles behind but they have been replaced by pack horses or those with riders going at quite a speed, making sure we stay on the uphill side as they pass.  We stopped at Yak Kharka  for tea and the decision was made to head on to Ledar at 4200 m with the possibility of going to High Camp the next day, making our over the pass day shorter.  We arrived at Ledar 1:30 and a hot lunch, watching as the clouds seemed to be getting lower and wind picking up even more.  After settling into our cabins, a couple went for excursions while the rest snuggled in their sleeping bags.  An hour before dark it began to snow and soon there was a snow cover over everything we could see.  Forcast has potential snow for next couple days so will see in the morning how far we want to go tomorrow.  Another filling supper, filling our water bottles, and off to bed.
