October 27, 2015 - Rest Day

We had a built in acclimatization day so that we would be able to reach tomorrows destination which is Yak Karta at 4050m.  Acclimatization means going on a short climb and then returning to sleep at a lower level. For us this meant leaving our hut at 9 am and making our ascent up to a viewpoint which was 250m. Later in the day, we attended an acclimatization clinic sponsored by the Himalayan Rescue Association.  We discovered that people that are over age 50 have an easier time acclimatizing!

From our Tea House in Manang you can see many snow capped mountains such as; Annapurna 2,3,4, Chule Range, Thorung Peak, Ganggapurna Glacier, Ganggapurna Peak, and Pisang Peak.

There were several interesting notes about today that will stay in our memories forever. We went shopping for Nepalese mitts and hats. Our Tea House menu has us eating yak and vege burgers and drinking local seabuck thron juice. Listening to bulls bellow and the yaks yaking!  Two more days of 500 m assents then it will be over the pass.
