Today we began our trek into the mountains and right at the outset our group would like to acknowledge the professionalism and the gracious hospitality of the Peak Promotion team. Their warm welcome, the arrangement of all logistics, food, accommodation and their friendly attitude on the daily walk is something we have experienced before and again on this trek. This is really what makes them our extended family in Nepal and makes us come back here again and again.
Breakfast today was a leisurely affair and we set out from Lukla at about 8 15 am. The first part of the trek takes us to Phakding where we had lunch and set out again towards our final destination for today..Monju.
We note that the route is clearly cleaner and less crowded than our previous visits. We cross the Dudhkosi river twice on the way and pass through some very scenic places like Benkar and Toc Toc. The evening at Manju has turned quite cold and we have kept ourselves warm around the fireplace in the dining room. All of us are enjoying good health.
We met Mr Jaiswal, the president of Nepal Restaurateurs Association and were disturbed to hear from him the difficulties Nepalese people are facing due the severe shortage of fuel and cooking gas. We hope and pray that the situation improves soon.
We set out for Namche tomorrow.
