April 26, 2015- Back to Pheriche

Greetings from a very small village in the Khunmbu valley called Pheriche.  We spent last night in Lobuche, sleeping fitfully due to a series of this morning down to Pheriche, where the Himilayan Rescue Association was handling injured climbers and Sherpas from Everest Base Camp.  Helicopters flew back and forth throughout the day in support of this effort.  By noon, all the injured had been transferred to hospitals in Kathmandu.  We elected to spent the night sleeping in the "Sun Room", a lightly enclosed building used primarily for enjoying the views and weather of the area.  There were 20 of us sleeping on the floor and benches in tight quarters; it made for a safe nights sleep, and fortunately, there were no additional aftershocks.  And of course, there  was much talk about our plans to get home to our friends and family.  Stay tuned for more information on that subject.
