Happy Holi :)
Today we started off bright eyed and bushy tailed just like the monkeys we came across later at 'Monkey Temple'. We all hopped on our 'Tourist Bus' this morning which was a bit different to the many 3 wheeled buses which are Kathmandu's local public transport, first stop –
Monkey temple (Swayambhunath) is what it says on the tin it is a spectacular Buddhist temple in Kathmandu which is covered in monkeys. Our guide Arjun was most informative and helpful. We wandered around the temple –clockwise – ringing the bells, spinning the prayer wheel, and taking some snaps.
Next stop was the Hindu Temple – Pashupatinath along the river in Kathmandu. This was a fascinating place with fascinating people.
Last but not least was Boudhanath. This Stupa in Kathmandu is influenced by the Tibetan culture. We thought we had escaped the Holi paint, but I don’t think we could all get away. Some were a bit more colorful than others!
The day ended with a delightful lecture on 'Traveler's Diarrhoea'.
All in all, it was a great adventure around the city and a good bonding experience for the group, long may the adventure continue! – The mountains are calling.
