Trek to Tengboche

Another bright and early rising for the Arizona Meets Everest team in an attempt to beat the other tourists lining the trail.  This approach seems to be working as we had a sighting of the national Nepalese bird – the peacock!  Not too far outside of Namche Bazaar, we picked up a four-legged friend we dubbed “Canine Sherpa” who followed us all the way!

The morning was a refreshing change with a flat / downhill trail until we reached the river for a “rest stop”.  We then started the climb of 2,000 ft to our final destination of Tengboche (12,510 ft).  Once reaching Tengboche, we relaxed with a cup of tea and realized there was quite a temperature drop - the down jackets and booties made their first showing.

Looking forward to the morning – 5 a.m. wake up to catch the sun rise on Everest!
