An acclimatization day

The Zonies woke up bright and early on our first day in Namche Bazaar and started with a steep climb to Syangboche (12,795 ft) – the world’s highest airport – with total disregard for our tired legs….

From there we made our way to Everest View Hotel (12,729 ft) – The world’s highest hotel – where Mr. Everest made his first appearance to us and we got are first views of the world’s highest peak! No words can explain the sheer majestic beauty of the Nepalese Himalayas…. it’s definitely something you have to experience for yourself and ALREADY one of the great experiences of our lives….

To end the day Tendi Sherpa took us on a side trek to a peak overlooking Namache Bazaar that few other tourists get to see with 360 degree view of the surrounding peaks and a place he had took the IMAX film crew to shoot part of their documentary on Everest. It only took a climb to 13, 740 ft!… and this was supposed to be our “rest day”! : )

We definitely earned our sleep tonight, but look forward to another amazing day in the Himalayas and advancing towards Everest….
