We flew to Lukla (2804 m) on March 20th. The weather was very good, which is important for flights to Lukla. The flight went well - Mingmar (my climbing Sherpa) and Pasang (our camp cook) went to work organizing our gear. The plan was for Pasang to stay in Lukla and leave the next day after getting the yak and porter loads arranged. He will take three days to get to base camp on the 23rd. Mingmar and I headed on to Phakding (2623 m) after I had some breakfast. It was an easy walk taking about one and one half hours.
We stayed at a tea house at Phakding for the night and headed on to Namche Bazaar the next morning.
