Erik on his way to C1 chatting with Pemba - yes, about the Mariah Carey buff
It was a beautiful and cold morning to descend the icefall. Pemba and I woke at 5 AM and decided to leave C1 early. It seems as if climber were moving around all night and a beautiful night it was to be out, so we had had enough noise when we woke. We were off to BC just after 6 AM and moved ok. Part of the trail had collapsed overnight and it was mangled ladders and ropes. You wouldn't know that the trail was there expect for the ladders and ropes strewn all over. We passed several people coming up. It felt good to be in BC and we gorged ourselves with Sherpa Stew for breakfast. I spent the rest of the day recovering and relaxing. The docs and I spent a long while chatting and catching up. I gave them blow by blow details of the rotation and get there advice. It quite interesting chatting with the docs, because I get to find all the happenings in the med tent, some funny, some serious. Out of respect for them I won't blog on any of their issues here, but I'll be happy to share the details over beer. If you're interested in following what they do on a daily basis go to www.everester.org.
