I managed to pick up an intestinal bug last night. Without going into detail I will just say that I had a very uncomfortable and sleepless night. Fortunately by breakfast time I was feeling better. I got a cup of tea down and took some Imodium which allowed me to head back to base camp with Kame.
The night before Chet had asked about staying another night at camp two. He felt that it had been hard enough to get up there and wanted to make the most of it. We had all agreed to stay another night. For me that changed this morning after my stomach problems last night.
Ngima had gone back to base camp on the 24th. Mingmar and Pemba stayed with
Chet at camp two today while Kame and I left camp two for base camp at 9:30 AM. We got down to camp on in an hour.
From camp one our descent slowed as we got backed up behind several groups. After about 1 ½ slow hours descending and crossing ladders we got past the slow groups. Than we made better progress and arrived at base camp at 1:30 PM. The lower part of the icefall is really melting fast. Part of our route is now blocked by glacial ponds. About the lower 15% of the route is new, winding around the many ponds.
Back at base camp I avoided food most of the day, but did drink lots of liquid to re-hydrate. We checked in with Chet, Mingmar, and Pemba at 6 PM and all was well.
