September 27, 2012 - Back to Kathmandu

Beautiful morning with stunning blue sky, white capped mountains and a warm shining sun, Phaplu at it’s best! After morning tea and interview with Pemba Sherpa, we walked to the airport to await the arrival of the morning flight from Lukla that will take us back to Kathmandu.Suddenly we are approached by the local politicians as well as media representatives and local villagers and as it turns out today is the International Tourism Day and we are greeted as special guests! We receive khatas, warm tea and cookies and are interviewed by Radio Solo FM as well as Solo Cable TV about the regions potential for future tourism. After the greetings and speeches our flight finally arrives and we embarked for the 30 minute flight back to Kathmandu!

Arriving in Kathmandu to the heat, dust and traffic chaos is always somewhat a chock especially after a week up in the mountains with crisp and clear air, no cars and few people! After check in at the Yak & Yeti Hotel we took a long shower, changed into clean new clothes and had lunch buffe in the hotel restaurant.

Next stop was Qatar Airways office to change Nanna’s flight ticket and that took almost two hours but in the end it worked out so that she will leave Nepal tomorrow evening. Before dinner Nanna took a well deserved massage to treat her bruised body after her first trekking tour in Nepal.

We will spend our last night together having dinner at the Yak & Yeti Chimney Restaurant!

Good night!
