September 23, 2012 - Chyangba Village

Today we woke up in our bed in the stable in Bittakharka after a night of sleeping and waking up due to the fact that we are not yet used to the somewhat more firm “beds” as well as the altitude! Clear skies and sunshine met us after breakfast when we started our days walk towards Sisha Khola and Chyangba todays final destination.

The trail winding up and down through thick and dense jungle offering beautiful views over the lush green hills and deep valleys with roaring rivers cutting through the landscape.

Along the way we meet young children on their way to school in their neat little uniforms, a wedding party on their way to Tapting after paying their respects to the brides parents three days walk away! The impressions from the landscape and the people is breathtaking and becomes almost impossible for us to grasp, at the same time it is a unique experience that will stay with us for life!

We reached Sisha Khola at 1.30pm and after lunch we visit the local lower secondary school where we offered all the children writing books as well as pens and they gave us a song and dance performance welcoming us! We were taken on a tour of the school by the headmaster and finally after a photo & film session we were greeted with many katas and flowers and we bid goodbye before leaving for our last stop of the day, Chyangba!

We arrived in Chyangba and were greeted by the local people who had been waiting for us at the Wongchu Biso Darsan Lower Secondary School since 10 am, and as all the children already had left we decided to visit the school tomorrow morning again to meet and greet them all!

After being showed the school office we were taken to the house of Pema Sherpa where we will have dinner and stay for the night!
