himalayan Thar

October 17, 2012 - Namaste everybody out there!

Today we left Namche (3440) and headed for Tyangboche (3876). We started with a short ascend and then trekked on a very luxury smooth path. We were not the only group heading east (?) this morning – we saw a lot of people on their way towards Everest. It was almost like rush hour.
While walking we also had the luck of spotting Himalayan Thar, a mountain goat.

First part of the day was really easy, but we all knew what was waiting after lunch – 600 meter ascending up to Tyangboche! As usual our guides took good care of us all! We climbed a steep incline Nepali style – “Kolle Kolle” which means slowly-slowly. After two hours we arrived to our goal – Yippie! Tendi, Chhiri and Nawan had the time in their hand again!
After a cup of hot lemon tea we went to the monastery for a short visit. On our way back from EBC we will hopefully stay longer and see a ceremony.

We have got a couple questions about the food so here comes an answer: Tonights dinner (and several other dinners this high) consists of fried rice, noodles, dumplings, vegetables and our new favorite drink is hot lemon tea ( around the clock) :) For breakfast we have a range of items to choose from: muesli, porridge, eggs, pancake and more.

Tomorrow morning we will go up around 6 to see the beautiful views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and a new angle of Amadablam. So good night and sleep well. See you tomorrow!
