KHumbu Glacier

November 11, 2012 - Lobuche

This morning we woke in the coldest lodge so far. Brrr. Anki and Jette had a bad night but felt better at breakfast. Jette had a bad cold and Anki had high altitude sickness. Our guide Tendi Sherpa was worried and thought about sending us down. After a test he decided to let us try to continue. We did well and now we are looking forward to reach Everest Base Camp tomorrow together with rest of the team.

Along the trek today we saw Everest Memorial with persons who have died on their way up or down from Mount Everest. We reached Lobuche at 5000 meters and had lunch. Outside our lodge we witnessed a butchery of a yak (no meat for dinner).

After lunch we hiked on the edge of Khumbu glacier. From that point we even saw Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar. Now the temperature in combination with the wind makes it necessary to wear all our warm cloths.

Now we look forward to dinner with special apple pie for desert.

The tip of today: Buy a Nepalese cash card if you want to call home.
