November 6, 2012 - Acclimatization Day

Today we had our first acclimatization day and we trekked from Namche Bazar on 3440 m to Khumjung, 3780 m. First we visited a little museum, The Everest Museum, and there we had a fantastic view over the mountains Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablan and Nuptse and many more. It is unbelievable to stand in front of the world highest mountains.

After that we went to Everest View Hotel and had tea and biscuits on the veranda in the sun. After that we walked down to Khumjung to have lunch. A few of us had a slight headache but after a while it was ok again. We visited Khumjungs Monastery and inside were the skull of Yeti, the real one…and then we passed Hillary School and there was also a statue of Hillary. After that we walked back to Namche and had our tea.

Good advice for today: eat a lot while you can, we have still a very good appetite, we just ordered in one more pizza, and bring a binocular, it is useful.

Right know we are sitting in the big dining room after our dinner, it is full of people who are going up and going down. The tea house is full, about 100 guests. It is very cold outside at the moment, minus ten degrees celsius, but inside here it is warm and nice.

We are really having a fantastic time here together and we hope everyone at home are well.
