The day has finally arrived – after one year I am reunited with the Himalayas, in the great hands of Pemba Sherpa.
I got out of bed at 6.15, had breakfast and checked out by 6.30 and we headed off to Kathmandu airport to take a small 15 passenger plane to Lukla.
Flying besides the mountains, sometimes with a distance to the mountain wall of 30 meters or less is defiantly a slightly scare feeling – especially when the plane hits turbulence :). But the weather was beautiful and the views where stunning, and we arrived safely in Lukla
The morning started calm in Lukla, getting our entire gear ready, drinking lots of tea, and we managed to head off into the mountains around midday. Today was quite short and relaxed – maybe a three hour strolls to Phakding, 2610 meters where we will stay for the night.
The mood is high, the daal bhat is great tasting, and the excitement for tomorrow where we head of to Namche Bazaar, 3400 meters is there too.
Peak Promotion is taking very good care of me, and I travel in Nepal rock star style – Pemba my guide, a 5 time Mt. Everest summiter, and a keen photographer (always busy documenting the adventure), two porters carrying the gear – and then myself. This is luxury!
Greetings from the rooftop of the world, from one very excited Danish Viking!
