Group Picture at Everest Basecamp
Today we reached our final destination, Mount Everest Base Camp (5364 meters)! And we all did it together!
But let's start from the very beginning. We woke up into a chilly morning in Lobuche. After a healthy breakfast we started our hike towards Gorak Shep, which could be our lunchplace. The path was really rocky and we really started to see the effect of high altitude in our bodies. It was tough! But it was nothing compared to what was awaiting us in the coming afternoon.
We had a quick lunch in Gorak Shep and started our ascent to EBC. The hike was really tough for all of us. We were just gasping of little bit of air to our lungs and forced ourselves to put one feet in front of another. And finally there it was on the horizon, like a mirage in a desert – Everest Base Camp!
We stayed there for something like half an hour taking group photos and just admiring the majestic view. After that we started our hike back to Gorak Shep and it was really hard for all of us. Somehow we managed to get back to our sleeping quarters just before it started to snow. Talking about perfect timing!
