On the day of November 2,2017 Nearly there! We are now at Machhermo (4410m) where legend has it a yeti killed 3 yaks and a sherpa woman here in 1974. We have now entered beautiful but remote landscape of tundra, glacial moraine, yak pastures surrounded by stone walls set against the backdrop of the Himalayas. It is also getting much colder and we looked like two yetis all wrapped up during our afternoon acclimatization walk. We visited the Porter Shelter and Rescue post in Machhermo to attend an afternoon talk on porter welfare and altitude sickness. The centre is run by volunteer doctors and provides emergency treatment to porters funded by trekkers who need medical assistance.
