19th April, 2012 - Back to Namche from Pheriche

First and foremost, we want to tell our three former fellow hikers that left us yesterday that we MISS them very much!!  We also want to tell our blog family and friends that we MISS them as well and will be home soon!!

Today we were routed out of Pheriche bright and early because we had a lot of ground to cover!! The trek from Pheriche to Namche is approximately 9-10 miles.  So we got our morning tea at 6 a.m. and were trekking at 8:30.  It was a beautiful sunny morning and we enjoyed our somewhat downhill hike to lunch.  Most of the trek had been what we had seen just two weeks before.  After an enjoyable lunch, we did have a “vicious” hike out of the valley.  But after seven and half hours of trekking time, we reached Namche Bazar.  We have been looking forward to this day for the past week!! This is our “Hilton” of the Himalayas.  It has unlimited hot showers, laundry service, wi-fi and cell service, private bathroom, flushing toilets, a fire-stove heated cozy dining room, town shopping, and hair dryers for rent…though still no heat for us in our bedrooms!  These are all amenities that we haven’t been blessed with since two weeks ago when we were last here.  With our experience in Namche, we have realized just how fortunate we are in the United States.  Hopefully a lesson we don’t forget too quickly.  We just finished with a wonderful supper!! Tonight truly is a night for “celebrations”!! Tomorrow is our last day of trekking; it is bitter sweet for us!! We have enjoyed the beautiful awesome scenery, the commrodiery with our friends, and the best guiding team ever!!
