14th April, 2012 - Back to Dingboche

We woke up to a beautiful clear morning in Chhukung.  After a few of the gang took their “bucket showers,” we gathered our things and started our trek for Dingboche.  This was a fairly easy day with the terrain being pretty mild and it only took us about two hours to complete.  There were many great photo moments along the way including yaks napping along the river and local farmers planting their fields the good old fashioned hard way – yaks pulling the plow followed by the farmer planting the seeds.  As we walked into town, we took advantage of the “internet café” to attempt making contact with our loved ones at home.  There is no phone service or texting currently but wifi is available for a fee.  We are now huddled around the only heat available, the wood stove in the lodge restaurant.  We have an interesting cast of characters we are sharing this heat with –two local farmer/sherpa ladies with strong and well worn hands who delivered potatoes and other supplies on the backs of their yaks, a single woman from Switzerland traveling alone, and other trekkers and sherpas.  The journey continues.
