5th April, 2012 - We landed at the Lukla Airport without a crash into the wall

Today was more delicious than vicious.  We landed at the Lukla Airport without a crash into the wall, and enjoyed walking through villages seeing perfectly symmetrical buildings having bright blue and green roofs sprinkled throughout the green hills.  Mountains were majestic in the background everywhere we looked, some with sharp snow covered peaks and other covered with clouds.  The loud raging river below was turquoise in color and clear.  We walked over long swinging bridges, bringing out the quiet fear of heights in some of us. Yaks and mules made us stop along the rocky muddy paths several times, warning us of their approach with soft dinging bells.  After lunch in a tea house, it changed from sunny breezy skies to a steady rain.  We changed into our raingear and walked an additional 70 minutes, totaling four hours for the day.  We ended in Phakding at 8700ft, settled into our tea hut heatless rooms, and had a yummy warm dinner. Two of us are recovering from a stomach issue-the men with the really short hair-but should be ready for our big seven hour day tomorrow starting at 630am.
