10th April , 2012 - acclimatization day in Pheriche

Today we were supposed to climb up to Nagakarsang hill at an altitude of 5083 meters but when we woke up it was snowing and the whole village was covered in fog. We had to wait a few hours for clear weather before we could start the trek. After passing a hill above the village we began the climb up a sandy and stony slope. We got to about 4700 meters when it began to snow again and we have to go down. On the way back we meet a herd of Yaks feeding on the steep slope.

We really start to feel the altitude now and your steps feel heavy and we both got a headache from today’s trek, but after some rest and some help from some drugs we both feel much better so we just have to hope we will do as good when we get higher up.

The snow stopped to fall just in time for the sunset and we got to see an amazing view while the sun licked the tops of some great mountains.
