Fanny appears to be totally indifferent to altitudes. As we write this, Erik is the one with a slight headache, while Fanny is feeling better than ever. Altitude is of course also the predominant factor to the change in the shape of the landscape.

The day started with beautiful Rhododendron forests, sun (as always until lunch, and a slightly apocalyptical atmosphere as helicopters flew in a steady stream above, beside or under us on their way with supply to base camp (or on rescue missions from Pheriche). After lunch break in Somare, the main ascent started, as high as some 4 400 meters, until we reached Pheriche at some 4300 meters. The landscape is different here, a mix between the Swedish fjell with its rocky paths and something you have seen on TV from Afghanistan.

Besides a visit to an old female monastery, the main social activity was a lecture about AMS, HACE and HAPE by a Swedish doctor at the HRA hospital (he resembles a sporty version of Hans Roskvist, funny guy speaking with a thick Swedish accent).

We were also excited when we arrived to our lodge (Himalayan lodge). Hot shower, sun beads, cozy hangout area. Appreciated.

Tomorrow we will make an acclimatization trek up to 5 083 meter (Nagakarsang hill).  That will be fun.
