A great night in Loboche, where everyone slept very well, was followed by an easy walk down to Dingboche. On the way down we passed a memorial place for people that have lost their lives on Everest. Among the monuments we found Scott Fischer that died in the tragedy 1996 and also the Sherpa that spent 24 hours on the summit before, on his way down, slipped and fell to his death.
Our main focuses are now about the coming couple of days as we are really getting closer to Island Peak. For the first time in many days the weather wasn’t that good. Actually it was very cloudy and misty when we arrived around noon – this worries us a bit. Anyway, we have two more days before it’s time. Our plan is to trek to Chhukung tomorrow, where we also will get our climbing gear. The day after tomorrow we’ll head for Island Peak Base camp and early morning, around three o’clock the night to the 20th we’ll head for the summit. Everyone is really looking forward to it and everything is now about fueling up with carbohydrates and energy.
Over and out from Dingboche
