The previous evening the team leader had briefed all Members for an early start and the clothing to wear. After a cup of tea and biscuits we set of for ABC at 0445hrs. The trek was not strenuous and the climb was very enjoyable with all the peaks set out in front of us, an amazing once in a lifetime sight. By 0730 hrs everyone was at ABC and after a lot of photography and a welcome breakfast the return trip to MBC started. Mr P K Sengupta our oldest member at 74 years proved himself beyond doubt as very mentally and physically tough
After packing up quickly we set of for Dovan stopping for an hour or so for lunch at Deorali. Post lunch the weather turned inclement with hail and rain. The first party of children were lucky to avoid the rain while the last lot got caught in heavy rain and hail and were completely wet. Nevertheless every one reached Dovan safely and still in high spirits. At all major halts we were met with a refreshing drink of hot chocolate and the food has been great throughout the trek. Any food after a long hard walk is wonderful. So now everyone is set for the penultimate day of the trek to Jinu tomorrow.
On the whole the trek has been outstanding, the scenery excellent and reaching ABC a great achievement for every member of the team. The sight of Annapurna and other snow clad mountains was amazing. It was worth all the effort finally.
