Marcie- I really can’t believe our Island Peak adventure has begun! I am a native of Bozeman, Montana where I now work as a Physician Assistant in orthopedic surgery. I love being outside and have a passion for adventure travel. I am excited to spend the next 3 weeks in the Himalayas enjoying the mountains and spending time with people.

Lexi- My first time in Nepal! I am from the Sierra Nevadas, Oregon, and Montana and am excited to see the Himalayan Mountains.  I enjoy climbing and skiing.  At home, I am a physical therapy aide and student.  I hope to learn some Nepalese and meet some of the wonderful people here.

Stacee- Anxious to begin our adventure to Island Peak.  I am an RN for Bridger Orthopedics in Bozeman, Montana.  I enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking with my dad and black lab puppy.  Cant’ wait to be on the trail to big mountains, interesting people and new sights.

10th &11th April, 2010

What time is it? After wiping the droll off of our faces we rode through Kathmandu….speechless, overwhelmed, and tired.  Fortunately, we went for a refreshing swim at the Yak and Yeti hotel, and slept 10-12 hours last night.

Today (Sunday), we toured Kathmandu with the wonderful guide, Arjun.  Traffic was definitely the scariest part.  We also toured the monkey temple where Stacee chased lots of monkeys.  We tried not to lose Marcie among the praying Hindus and I had fun spinning the colorful prayer wheels.  Now, we have met our Sherpa guide at the Peak Promotion headquarters and are preparing for departure to Lukla.  We hope to make the earliest flight out of Kathmandu (if we can see through the smog).  We are all healthy and rested now.  Wongchu Sherpa has advised us to drink lots of water and NO ALCOHOL!  I will have to restrain myself….   We will be bringing this mini-computer with us and update daily.  Yeah!     -Lexi
